Alchemy Theatres is all geared up to stage its critically acclaimed play One Degree Second on this World Theatre Day, 27th March 2024 at the Alchemy Black Box Studio Adyar, Chennai. This play marches towards the 25th staging and subsequent shows on 28, 29, 30 & 31st Of March 2024 at the same venue.
One Degree Second is about the complex interweaving of time, luck, fate and how that can change the course of our destiny. The story, presented entirely in a coffee shop, unfolds against the backdrop of the bomb blasts at Mumbai in 2003. It revolves around a middle-aged couple, a lawyer, a social activist, a corporate worker and a politician – their everyday conversations - and how they soon discover that there is more to what they see. As the darker truths of their pasts come to light, everyone must face up to the realities.
This bi-lingual play has been written and directed by Vijay Viswanathan, Playwright & Director. The play will be presented at the Alchemy Black Box Studio that promises an intimate and mesmerizing experience for the audience.

‘O2 Rendezvous with Art’, presented by Alchemy Arts & Education Foundation, is a newly launched performing arts series that will present diverse artists every month. Performances are carefully curated, and will feature music, dance, storytelling and theatre, among other popular art forms. The series will also throw a spotlight on endangered and experimental art forms. By bringing a variety of art forms to the fore, the series aims to weave together a community of artists, who directly engage with art audiences.
‘O2 Rendezvous with Art’ offers a unique platform to both upcoming and established artists. With the intimacy of the Alchemy Black Box space and the variety of staging & lighting configurations, every event will be a breath of fresh air for performers, audiences & the performing arts scene at large.
